Helping Their Helpers

Residents at Friendship Village senior living community have stepped in to help the people who are always helping them. Beginning last week, a group of resident seamstresses took to their sewing machines to stitch fabric masks.  The face coverings will be used by staff members who are screening their fellow associates as they come into the building at the beginning of each work shift. The masks will also be available for associates making deliveries to residents’ apartments.

“We have the best residents. They are so appreciative of how hard the staff is working to keep them safe, active, and engaged. They were excited to have a way to give back,” said Delight Davenport, lifestyles activities coordinator.  She said that fellow staff members are cutting out the fabric and then passing it along to residents to sew in their apartments. “Everyone is doing everything they can to make sure that residents and staff remain healthy.”
