Friendship Village Earns Prestigious Recognition

We are proud to announce that Briarwood Healthcare Center at Friendship Village has been designated one of Newsweek’s Best Nursing Homes in 2020. More than 15,000 nursing homes across the U.S. were analyzed, resulting in an elite list of 406 of the best on this inaugural list. The rankings were based on recommendations by medical professionals and on performance data from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Friendship Village is the highest ranked retirement community in the immediate area and is #5 in the entire state of Illinois. Our name is mentioned on Newsweek’s website.

The recognition was developed by Newsweek to honor excellence in senior care.

There are more than 47 million Americans ages 65 and older and the number is growing. “Taking good care of aging family members is something we all want to get right,” wrote Nancy Cooper, Global Editor in Chief of Newsweek. “Newsweek partnered with the respected global data research firm Statista Inc. to establish a ranking of Best Nursing Homes.”  She added, “Beloved elders deserve the best care their families can provide. We hope the rankings here can help make these difficult decisions easier.”

Friendship Village senior living community offers independent living, assisted living and memory support. Briarwood Healthcare Center at Friendship Village delivers short- and long-term skilled nursing care, rehabilitation therapy and memory support.

The Newsweek honor joins multiple accolades achieved by Friendship Village including the prestigious 5-star rating by CMS, the designation of being among the Best Nursing Homes 2018-2019 by U.S. News and World Report,  the selection in Daily Herald Readers’ Choice Awards as the Best of the Best Retirement/Assisted Living Facilities in the Chicagoland area, and our accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

“Friendship Village has a deep commitment to providing outstanding care, and we’re proud of the prestigious recognition from these awards.” said Casey Pudwill, administrator of Briarwood. “These honors are testament  to the dedication of our entire team. We are proud of the care we provide and the great outcomes for our residents, as well as for patients from throughout the greater area receiving skilled therapy after a hospitalization or illness.”
