Friendship Village in Schaumburg held its first Opportunities Fair earlier this month. The resident-driven event featured the community’s abundant clubs, committees and interest groups. “The Opportunities Fair presented everything that happens here,” said Jessica Enriquez, manager of wellness services. “Book clubs, the movie-making club, sewing club, knitting club, the choir, religious groups, the fishing group…any organization offered on campus.”
More than forty tables boasting the different interest groups, drawing over 400 attendees to learn about Friendship Village’s many opportunities. The event, which ran from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., opened by a rousing performance by the Friendship Village Choir and Laugh a Minute, the community’s improv club. “This warmed up the crowd,” said Jessica. “All of the attendees positively loved the fair. It was great for people who are new to the community and looking for ways to get involved. But it was also great for current residents who didn’t know that all of these amazing clubs and committees even exist.”
The Opportunities Fair is destined to become an annual event, Jessica concluded.
