Friendship Village of Schaumburg’s Briarwood Healthcare Center has been reported as being one of the best nursing homes in the country by U.S. News and World Report. This prestigious honor is awarded to only the top nursing homes, providing high quality and attentive care. Friendship Village is a leading Chicago-area continuing care retirement community (CCRC) offering a complete continuum of care including independent living garden and apartment homes, assisted living and memory support. Briarwood Healthcare Center at Friendship Village provides skilled care and short and long-term rehabilitation services. U.S. News and World Report is a leading provider of service news and information that focuses on important and relevant issues. The study on nursing homes was undertaken as U.S. News and World Report acknowledges their important role in society. In their report they explained, “On any given morning this year, roughly 1.4 million individuals, including 1 in 10 individuals ages 85 and above, will wake up in a U.S. nursing home. We want to help families find a good and caring facility.” For 2016-2017, of the nearly 16,000 nursing homes evaluated, only 2,005 nationwide earned the best nursing home recognition. This is less than 13%, placing Briarwood among a very elite group of care providers. Criteria included health inspections and the absence or low incidence of deficiencies in state-conducted health inspections, nurse staffing, quality of medical care and rehabilitation therapy minutes. “This rating reflects our promise to provide the very best resident-centered care,” said Tony Madl, administrator for Briarwood Healthcare. “The designation as a ‘top-rated nursing home’ is a tremendous honor, and serves to reaffirm that we fulfill our commitment to our residents and their families. We are very proud of our dedicated staff at Briarwood.”
