At Friendship Village, every day brings a variety of opportunities to discover new interests and build new friendships. You can participate in volunteer outreach, spiritual services, educational classes and so much more. Discover new opportunities through our local activities publication The Village Weekly, our monthly events calendar and other resources that keep you clued in to what’s happening in and around town. And remember, courtesy transportation is provided daily to a variety of local destinations, so you can focus on having fun. Here are a few of the tools and areas of interest that keep our residents engaged and informed:
Daily Activities
At Friendship Village, it’s all about choice. That’s why we offer over 450 activities on campus every month. "The Village Weekly", published by the Lifestyles Department, highlights special happenings, welcomes new residents and provides a weekly listing of the hundreds of programs available to residents. Just a few of the fun and exciting events include ballgame outings, theater shows and casino excursions. Check out "The Village Weekly" and our calendar of events to see what’s happening.
Volunteer Opportunities
Our residents generously donate their time and energy both on and off campus. From food drives to donating their time and talents to local organizations like Wings Resale Shop and Hoover School, no matter what your interests, there are opportunities to give back for everyone.
Spiritual Life
At Friendship Village, two full-time chaplains provide a comprehensive spiritual life program for people of all faiths. Opportunities include weekly interfaith worship services, daily morning prayer, Bible study, educational seminars, and monthly Shabbat and Communion services. We also provide free transportation to numerous local churches for worship.
Lifelong Learning
To help residents continue their quest for knowledge, we offer educational and cultural opportunities both on and off campus. Friendship Village partners with both Roosevelt University and Harper College to provide college-level courses and seminars on a monthly basis. Our Lifelong Learning team also coordinates cooking demonstrations, government forums, Elderhostel and social groups, such as our Red Hats Club.
